چکیده

A survey is given of recent developments on the resummed small-x evolution, in a framework based on the renormalization group equation, of non–singlet and singlet structure functions in both unpolarized and polarized deep–inelastic scattering. The available resummed anomalous dimensions are discussed for all these cases, and the most important analytic and numerical results are compiled. The quantitative effects of these small-x resummations on the evolution of the various parton densities and structure functions are presented, and their present uncertainties are investigated. An application to QED radiative corrections is given. ∗ Based on invited talks presented by J. Blümlein at the International Workshop on Deep Inelastic Scattering and Related Phenomena (DIS’96), Rome, Italy, April 1996; and by A. Vogt at the 1996 Zeuthen Workshop on Elementary Particle Theory: QCD and QED in Higher Orders, Rheinsberg, Germany, April 1996. To appear in the Proceedings of the Rheinsberg Workshop, Nucl. Phys. B (Proc. Suppl.).

The Small-x Evolution of Unpolarized and Polarized Structure Functions

A brief overview is presented of recent developments concerning resummed small-x evolution, based upon the renormalization group equation. The non-singlet and singlet structure functions are discussed for both polarized and unpolarized deep-inelastic scattering. Quantitative results are displayed and uncertainties from uncalculated subleading terms are discussed. ∗ Based on an invited talk pres...

QCD Evolution of Structure Functions at Small x

The status of the resummation of small x contributions to the unpolarized and polarized deep inelastic structure functions is reviewed. Perturbative Evolution of Polarized Structure Functions

We review the perturbative evolution of the polarized structure functions g1 and their associated parton distribution functions, with particular emphasis on the anomalous coupling of the first moment of the polarized gluon distribution. We also describe the small x behaviour of polarized parton distributions, contrasting it with that of the unpolarized distributions. We then explain how this th...

A Comparative Study for the Evolution of Structure Functions: DGLAP versus FOPT

We investigate an alternative to the DGLAP evolution of structure functions through the use of Fixed Order Perturbation Theory. Remarkable agreement between the two methods are found in the polarized sector for a wide x, Q2 region. However, for the unpolarized sector the agreement is poorer. In the last few years we have seen an explosion of new and precise data for unpolarized [1] and polarize...

0 Model for Polarized and Unpolarized Parton Density Functions in the Nucleon

We present a physical model for polarized and unpolarized structure functions and parton density functions (PDFs) of the proton and the neutron. It reproduces the data on F p 2 (x, Q 2) for 0.00001 < x < 1 and 2.5 < Q 2 < 5000 GeV 2 , F p 2 (x) − F n 2 (x), F n 2 (x)/F p 2 (x), xg(x), ¯ d(x) − ¯ u(x), d(x)/u(x), the Gottfried sum, the fractional momentum of charged partons and the polarized str...
